Burgundy Vintages

When analysing the merits of vintages in Burgundy, it is prudent to segment years into two – one verdict for the region’s white wines and another for the reds. While the two tend not to be poles apart, some years are better for one style than another. 2024 and 2021 were pretty tough for both, with damp conditions (and spring frosts in 2021) leading to a severe reduction in yields, and some dilution in quality. 2016 was similarly challenging, particularly for red wines. Other recent years have been fairly benevolent, with red wines excelling in 2022, 2020 and 2015, while white wine vintages to look for include 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2014.
