The great red wines of Bordeaux – traditionally known as ‘claret’ by the British market that was so integral to the wine’s initial success – stand as the cornerstone of any respectable cellar. From the classed growths of the Médoc to the stars of St-Emilion and Pomerol and the august names of Pessac-Léognan, these are legends of the wine world.

But claret is not just about grand châteaux and crus classés.
