Domaine Vincent Carême

Vincent Carême is a first generation winemaker who set up his eponymous domaine in 1999. He has been credited as one of the new wave of winemakers to emerge from Vouvray, in the Loire Valley, breathing new life into this neglected region since he started. His humble beginnings began with just five hectares of vines inherited from his parents. He now farms 15 hectares of vines on the clay and flint soils of the region, the majority of which are Chenin Blanc, and his holdings include a parcel in the famed Le Clos vineyard. Vineyard health is key to his success; everything is farmed organically. Principally working with Chenin Blanc, Vincent and his wife Tania make a broad range of styles which encompasses sparkling, dry and sweet, testament to the wonderful versatility of this white grape variety. His Vouvray is a fine example of the quality of the appellation, while his sparkling wines, made in the ancestral method, are rich and ageworthy.
