Spanish Albariño
Spain has several grape varieties that it has made its own, and when it comes to white wines, no variety is more closely associated with the country than the increasingly fashionable Albariño. Excelling in the Galician region of Rias Baixas, on Spain’s south-west coast, close to Portugal, here it produces a supremely refreshing, zesty, citrus-infused palate that is enthusiastically embraced by chefs to pair with all types of seafood. More recently, adventurous producers have harnessed more of the variety’s honeyed, beeswax tones to craft wines with greater body and weight.
