Douro White Wine
The Douro Valley is home to a series of dramatic, steeply terraced vineyards and centuries-old winemaking tradition. Set along the Douro River some 60 miles east of Porto, it is primarily known for its fortified, ageworthy Ports, followed by its similarly rich red wines – often made from the same grape varieties. However, it is also increasingly recognised for its dry white wines, which also harness indigenous grape varieties, from Malvasia to Viosinho, to yield a compelling style that can be bright, racy and textured.
