Corbières Wine
Corbières stands as one of the most notable appellations of the Languedoc, known particularly for its red wines, made largely from Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. While much of the wine is perfectly serviceable massmarket fare produced by co-operatives, a number of smaller domaines have heightened the reputation of the appellation through more rigorous winemaking. Indeed such is the region’s standing, that the Lafite branch of the Rothschild family now have an estate here – the estimable Château d’Aussières.
