Chablis Vintages
Being situated out on a limb from the rest of Burgundy’s vineyards, it is worth considering the merits of Chablis vintages separately to those of the Côte d’Or. Chablis’s more northerly setting means it is more susceptible to the dreaded spring frosts, which can drastically reduce yields (though not necessarily quality), though from that point on, the generally cooler climate is becoming increasingly beneficial. In such a contained vineyard area, and only focusing on white wines, generalisations are easier here than in Burgundy as a whole. In recent years, 2022, 2020 and 2015 have all shone, with 2019 and 2018 not far behind. Like the rest of Burgundy, 2021 and 2024 were more difficult, with vastly reduced crop.
