Sparkling Rosé Wine
Sparkling wine might be the very definition of a good time, but there’s something even more indulgent about sparkling rosé. It’s a style that was, for many years, the preserve of a just a handful of Champagne houses, led by the likes of Laurent-Perrier and Billecart-Salmon. Today, its popularity is such that most houses make a cuvée in this style, even including the prestige cuvées of Krug and Dom Pérignon. Most examples are made by adding a small proportion of still red wine to the blend, thereby lending such wines an extra richness and fruitiness compared to the standard white rendering. In recent years, the burgeoning English sparkling wine scene has followed suit, with a select range of its own rosé fizz.
