Bottle Sizes
The size of bottle in which a wine is presented can make a surprisingly big difference to how it evolves, and tastes in the glass. Broadly speaking, wines in larger formats will age more slowly and steadily, allowing the full complexity of the wine to emerge over time. Half bottles, by contrast, will age more quickly. And in some cases, of course, a certain size is more suitable for the occasion – a half-bottle for a midweek supper for two; magnums for a weekend party. Lay & Wheeler has a large selection of alternative bottle sizes beyond the standard 750ml, from half bottles to larger formats.
