2022 Howard John, Lourens Family Wines, Piekenierskloof
A blend of Shiraz, Cinsault, and Grenache, this is a wine that gets better and better with every year that goes past. So much pretty fruit, with tension and lots of savoury notes. There’s a purity to the finish, and lots of mineral savouriness that shines through. Gorgeous.

Three growers supply the grapes for this Swartland assemblage of Grenache with 28% each of Syrah and Cinsault, made in a style that is "drinkable but serious", according to Franco Lourens. Savoury, peppery and spicy, with some whole bunch perfume and texture and a macedoine of plum, pomegranate and blackberry fruit. 2024-29
