The 2021 IX Estate from Colgin is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 16% Cabernet Franc with a sprinkling of Petit Verdot to complete the blend. It opens with beguiling spice notes of incense and cracked pepper with wild roasted herbs. With air a little cocoa nib and violet come forward. At this stage the palate is quite muscular with assertive bramble fruit with a tinge of charcoal and tapenade. The finish is extremely finessed and detailed lasting almost forever on the palate.
