2023 Lenswood Vineyard Chardonnay, Shaw & Smith, Adelaide Hills

Lenswood is one of the best regarded sub-regional spots in the Adelaide Hills, and Shaw and Smith purchased their vineyard here in 2011. With an elevation of up to 500 metres a hallmark of this wine is salinity and freshness. There is around 30% new oak that has been used for ageing which adds subtle and well-integrated notes of toast and white pepper. It has a flinty and gunpowder note on the nose with aromas of white grapefruit and sea spray. The palate is vibrant with flavours of fresh orchard fruit and a beautiful line of freshness that runs through all the way to the finish.
