2019 Barolo Massara, Castello di Verduno, Piedmont
The Massara vineyard was originally owned by the famous G.B. Burlotto but was split between Giovanni Batitsta Burlotto’s three sons (one receiving Castello di Verduno, one Cantina Massara and the other the extant, G.B. Burlotto winery). Castello di Verduno own 1.22 hectares of this site, with a perfect south-southeast exposure. The 2019 Massara delivers sour cherry, rose petal, with wild herbs and a little blood orange. This is extremely fine and well-sculpted on the palate.
