2016 Niederhauser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese, Dönnhoff, Nahe
Nice nose, more exotic fruit than the Kirschheck, lovely tension and depth. Fine tension, so clean, the fruit is so well defined. Here, in Helmut’s words, “the whole orchestra is playing correctly”. Slight phenolic character, beautiful small red fruit, no botrytis. This is ethereal and fine, and beautiful balance. Long and saline, and a touch of mint and basil on the finish. So so so gorgeous.
