2008 La Grande Année, Champagne Bollinger
A blend of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay from mainly Grand Cru sites, the 2008 vintage was the first to use a new bottle shape, a so-called 'mini-magnum' with a slimmer neck and wider base. Now showing subtle notes of development there are aromas of white truffle, toasted hazelnuts with crushed stones and dried white flowers on the nose. This is intense and powerful but with such precision and finely chiselled edges. It’s so explosive on the palate, with notes of lemon oil and peach. Insanely complex, this will be so long lived.
