2020 Lirac, Domaine Giraud
This Lirac is so juicy and vibrant. Marie Giraud describes the vineyard they own here as being 45-minutes-by-tractor away from the domaine's cellars on the other side of the Rhône river in Châteauneuf. She quips that it’s the only form of transport she uses to make the journey, so the only measure she can give. The 60 year old vines grown in the sandy soils of Lirac produce a bright, fresh, and aromatic red. The body is more lithe and agile than a Châteauneuf, and it brims with red fruit lift and juiciness. It’s absolutely great value, too.
