2016 Côte de Brouilly, Jean-Claude Lapalu, Beaujolais
The Côte de Brouilly can sometimes be overlooked as a Beaujolais cru, but Jean-Claude Lapalu makes one of the very best wines from here. This is perfectly balanced, with fresh and elegant fruit and a real Pinot Noir Character. Were this from the Côte d’Or it would be many times the price.

The 2016 Cote de Brouilly has a more introverted bouquet compared to the three Brouilly 2016s, with notes of blackcurrant, briary, a hint of marmalade and fig emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a gentle but insistent grip in the mouth and fine delineation with a soupçon of sour cherry enlivening the finish. Excellent.
