2023 Beaune 1er Cru Tuvilains, Marchand-Tawse (Vignes de la Famille Tawse)
Tuvilains is a lovely vineyard on the Pommard side of the town. In 2023 the wine is tightly wound, with grippy, compact tannins, and a fresh cherry bite. It will need some time to come around in bottle but will reward the patient.

The 2023 Beaune Tuvilains 1er Cru is completely destemmed, though it has a hint of spice on the nose. Like the Clos du Roi, this lacks a little cohesion and depth. The palate is better than the Clos du Roi, with more concentration, cracked black pepper notes and fine tannins without a great deal of grip on the finish. There is a long aftertaste. Fine.
