En Primeur
2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Carrières, Domaine Felettig
This tiny Premier Cru is set in a dip that was once a quarry (as the name alludes to). The wine is full of black cherries, with a creamy texture and silky length. 80% whole-bunch fruit results in great energy, and a dense, complex finish. The 2023 has lovely pure fruit. It’s fresh and textured, with a very long finish.

The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Les Carrières 1er Cru was matured with 30% whole bunch this year. Like other cuvées, there is a veil of reduction on the nose as the wine was due for racking. The palate is much more expressive. With slightly chalky tannins, this is perhaps the edgiest, most livewire of Felettig's Premier Crus. There is wonderful tension with impressive mineralité toward the finish. It might be less approachable once bottled, but I can see this going the distance.
