2016 Château d'Armailhac, Cru Classé Pauillac

Now drinking beautifully, the 2016 is a lesson in balance, with poised dark fruit flavours and a lovely savoury complexity. The acidity is fresh and long and the mineral graphite notes developing on the finish, further enhance the appetising feel of this wine.

Critic Scores

17/20 – Jancis Robinson MW, jancisrobinson.com

Very dark, blackish purple. Perfumed and rather seductive. Pretty chunky and solid. Tannins more in evidence than in some (though admittedly this is my first Pauillac in a long run of wines). A long-distance runner. Very juicy.

95-96/100 – James Suckling, jamessuckling.com

This is really tannic and muscular for d’Armailhac. Perhaps the most powerful ever. Full and chewy yet balanced and polished. Very, very impressive. Greatest ever?
