2002 Château Langoa-Barton, Cru Classé St-Julien
Undersung compared with its cousin Léoville, Langoa-Barton often offers similar quality and exceptional value for money. The 2002 vintage is no exception – it is superb. Expressive notes of sweet plum, red berry and bramble fruit comes through on the nose alongside a creamy vanillin character. There is lovely concentration, with a dark berry fruit core enswathed in silky-fine tannins and complemented by a dart of refreshing acidity. Rich, yet quite feminine in style, this is drinking absolutely beautifully now.
