Domaine des Herbauges

Domaine des Herbauges make vibrant white wines in the Loire Valley whose quality belies their price point. It is headed by Jerôme Choblet, the fourth generation of the family to tend the vineyards around the Lac du Grandlieu. These beautifully situated vineyards are unofficially regarded as the Grand Cru sites of the area and were given their own appellation in the late 1990s - AOC Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu Sur Lie. Jerôme is committed to sustainable agriculture, he works the soil organically and has lined his vineyards with grass to help control yields and absorb excess rainfall. He concentrates on showing off the different characteristics of his vineyards, treating each of his wines in a slightly different fashion and the results are always impressive.
