Domaine des Forges

Situated in a beautiful corner of the Loire Valley, Domaine des Forges holds a range of different vineyard sites on both sides of the Loire river. They have an impressive 47 hectares of vines throughout the Coteaux du Layon and Savennières. The domaine has been in the same family for five generations since Pierre Robineau, a grocer by trade, bought 2 hectares of vines called Le Clos des Forges in 1890. Today it is run by Stéphane and Séverine Branchereau. Their sustainably farmed vines now include 30 hectares of Chenin Blanc although their range also includes sweet, rosé, red and sparkling wine. The jewel in their crown is undoubtedly their sweet Chenin Blanc from the appellation, Quarts de Chaume. Designated a Grand Cru in 2014, the wines quality comes from the steep, schist vineyards and skilled winemaking to create a rich, concentrated sweet white.
