Château Siran

Château Siran is a rising star in Margaux, labelled by Neal Martin as “one to watch.” Once owned by the renowned Lautrec family (of artist Toulouse-Lautrec fame), they opted not to enter Siran into the 1855 classifications. As a result, Siran is unclassified but that has not stopped its upward trajectory and its quality is counted among the classed growths, at a more affordable level. It has been owned by the Miailhe family for over 150 years and 6th generation, Edouard Miailhe, heads the estate today. With the help of winemaker Benjamin Sala and consultant Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, Edouard continues to push the quality benchmark. The cellars have been extensively renovated, the vineyards have been improved and there are ongoing experiments with organic and biodynamic farming. Past vintages are housed securely in the cellar, which is actually a fully equipped nuclear bunker and holds a treasure trove of past vintages of Siran, plus wines from the Miailhe family stable including Châteaux Palmer, Pichon-Lalande and Ormes de Pez.
