Château Robin

Château Robin hails from the less well known Côtes de Castillon appellation. It borders St-Emilion giving it the terroir and quality potential to make great wines which offer excellent value for money. With St-Emilion commanding increasingly higher prices for its land, which is scarcely available, it is no wonder producers are looking to its lesser known neighbour. Château Robin’s vineyards are planted on part of the field which saw the Battle of Castillon put an end to the Hundred Years War in 1453. It’s history is not well known, but by 2018 the estate had fallen into disrepair when it was bought by brothers, Jan and Florian Thienpont, part of the family who also own Le Pin and Vieux Château Certan. Recognising the huge potential of its vineyards, they have concentrated on getting them up to scratch, a task which is still ongoing. However their focus on quality is clear and although 2018 was their debut vintage and they made a tiny amount of wine, its price was reasonable and the quality was superb. This is certainly an estate to watch.
