Château Guiraud

Prized for its elegance and finesse, Premier Cru Classé Château Giraud is one of Sauternesmost sought after wines. It is also one of the region’s only certified organic estates. The château is owned by four wine and business personalities who ensure that it continues on its path to success. Xavier Planty oversees the winemaking, Stephan von Neipperg who also runs Canon-La-Gaffèliere and La Mondotte, Olivier Bernard, manager of Domaine de Chevalier and Robert Peugeot, who helped steer car manufacturers Peugeot and Citroën to success. The result of this powerhouse of knowledge is an estate that is going from strength to strength each vintage. Château Guiraud has 85 hectares dedicated to Sauternes and 15 hectares to a dry white and a higher than usual amount of Sauvignon Blanc is grown. Its organically controlled vineyards are complimented by >eco-friendly measures including grass grown between the vines, nesting sites for birds and special bug hotels installed to ensure the strong presence of pollinating insects.
