Château Cantenac Brown

Cantenac Brown came into existence when Scottish-born John Lewis Brown, a Bordeaux wine merchant with an eye for good terroir, bought a vineyard in Cantenac in 1806. It was the estate's next owner, Armande Lalande, who built the unusual Tudor-style château and named the estate after his predecessor. Since then, Cantenac Brown has evolved significantly into a forward-thinking, conscientious Margaux property. In 2019, it was bought by the Le Lous family who have significantly modernised it, most notably with the installation of a new, raw-earth cellar, an eco-construction built using ancient techniques to have as little impact as possible on the environment.
