Champagne Jacquesson
Champagne Jacqueson can date its history back to 1798 when it was reputedly a favourite of Napoleon. It stayed with the family until 1974, when it was bought by brothers Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet. Since their acquisition, the house has enjoyed a rise to prominence thanks to its high quality and slightly unconventional champagnes. Contrary to most Champagne houses, there is no clearly defined non-vintage style. Instead each vintage is celebrated for its uniqueness, and marked on the label, making each cuvée an insightful glimpse into the main vintage in the blend. The variation and percentages of the base wines varies considerably. There is also a range of single-vineyard wines plus a vintage Blanc de Blancs from Avize. Jean-Hervé and Laurent have moved their vineyards to organic farming and increased oak ageing. Their style is dry, preferring zéro dosage, and their Champagnes age beautifully. Jacquesson is one of the leading Champagne houses, whose quality and finesse is evident in every bottle.
