Prager
One of the most iconic wineries in the Wachau, the Prager estate is made up of 17.5 hectares planted to 60% Riesling and 40% to Grüner Veltliner. Focusing specifically on single vineyard parcels, high density planting, and hands-off winemaking, Prager crafts wines of precision, elegance, and purity of fruit.
The estate is run by Toni Bodenstein, who married Franz Prager’s daughter Ilse, joining the estate in the early 1990s. Toni is a biologist, geologist, and historian, and spent years studying the geology of the region and genetic diversity of its vineyards. His scholarly approach, passion for biodiversity, and brilliant winemaking has elevated Prager to the highest echelon of Austrian wine producers.
