Henschke
Henschke estate is a testament to Australia's rich winemaking heritage and commitment to sustainable practices. Established in 1868 by Nicolaus Stanitzki, the vineyard is renowned for its pre-phylloxera, own-rooted Shiraz vines, some over 160 years old. These ‘Grandfather’ vines thrive in the Eden Valley's red-brown earth over deep silty loam, offering exceptional moisture retention and natural resilience.
The estate is now held up by its fifth and sixth generations and under the stewardship of Prue and Stephen Henschke, a respective viticulturist and chief winemaker. The estate employs organic and biodynamic practices, enhancing soil health and ensuring the longevity of these historic vines.
